Why it matters
Why loyalty programs need proper analytics
Loyalty and channel schemes are often one of the larger lines in a sales and marketing budget, yet many teams can't say which schemes pay back. Without clear numbers, budgets get renewed out of habit or cut out of caution.
Good analytics answers a few questions reliably: who is taking part, what they are doing differently, what it costs, and whether sales moved. It also gives finance confidence that points issued, claims approved and rewards paid all reconcile.
Because LoyaltyBoard holds enrolment, earning, claims and redemption in one place, those numbers come from the same source rather than from several spreadsheets.
Dashboards
What you can see
Every view can be split by partner, region and product.
| Dashboard | What it shows | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Scheme performance | Participation, points issued and activity during each scheme | Sales and marketing |
| Tier movement | How members move between tiers over time | Program managers |
| Redemption | What members redeem, and how quickly | Program and finance teams |
| Fraud | Flagged activity and how it was resolved | Finance and audit |
| Enrolment and activity | Who joined and who is active | Sales leaders |
Measuring ROI
How to measure loyalty program ROI
Compare like with like. The clearest view of a program's effect comes from comparing members with similar partners who are not taking part, or the same partners before and after a scheme. Total sales growth alone can't separate the program from everything else.
Count the full cost: platform, rewards and fulfilment. Then compare it with the incremental gross margin from the extra sales the program drove, not just the extra revenue.
Review quarterly and act on it. Keep schemes that pay back, change the ones that don't, and move budget towards the segments that respond.
- Compare members with similar non-members
- Use incremental margin, not revenue
- Include platform, rewards and fulfilment costs
- Review schemes every quarter

Using it well
Building a reporting routine
Dashboards work best with a routine. Agree a short weekly review — enrolment, active members, redemptions and flagged activity — and a monthly review of scheme performance by region, partner type and product.
Give each audience its own view: program managers need scheme and member detail, sales leaders need regional performance, and finance needs reward liability and redemption.
Compare like with like. Look at enrolled partners against similar partners outside the program, and at schemes against comparable periods, before concluding a program is working.
