The basics
What is loyalty gamification?
Loyalty gamification adds game mechanics to a loyalty program — spin wheels, scratch cards, challenges, streaks, milestone rewards, badges and leaderboards. The aim is simple: give members a reason to open the program and act between purchases, not only when they happen to buy.
Games work because they make progress visible and add a little surprise. A leaderboard shows a dealer where they stand against peers in their region; a streak rewards an electrician for scanning every week; a scratch card turns an ordinary scan into a small moment of excitement.
In B2B programs, gamification is not a gimmick. Dealers, retailers and tradespeople respond to recognition and competition just as consumers do, and a well-designed game can focus attention on a specific goal — a new product range, a monthly target or a quiet region.
LoyaltyBoard includes leaderboards and badges in every plan, with up to 2 gamification scenarios on Starter, 5 on Growth and 10 on Enterprise. You control the prizes, odds and budget for each game.

Best practices
How to use gamification without wasting budget
Tie every game to a behaviour. A spin wheel after a focus-SKU scan pushes that product; a spin wheel after any scan only adds cost. Decide what each game is for before you switch it on.
Make leaderboards fair. Split them by region, tier or partner type so smaller partners can still win something, and refresh them on a regular cycle so last quarter's leader doesn't stay on top forever.
Set the prize budget and odds upfront, and watch redemption. If a game's prizes are never claimed, the rewards aren't right for that audience; if they are claimed faster than expected, tighten the odds or the budget.
- Link each game to one behaviour or product
- Split leaderboards so more members can win
- Refresh leaderboards on a fixed cycle
- Set prize budgets and odds before launch
- Retire games that no longer change behaviour
Measuring it
How to tell whether gamification is working
Gamification should change behaviour, not just add activity. Before you launch a game, decide which behaviour it is meant to move — more frequent scans, a focus SKU, a monthly target or faster redemption — and track that number for members who play against those who don't.
Look at repeat participation as well as first plays. A spin wheel that everyone tries once but nobody returns to is entertainment, not engagement. Streaks, tier progress and leaderboards tend to drive repeat visits because members have something to keep.
Review prizes and odds every few weeks. If the same few members win every leaderboard, split the boards by region, tier or partner type so more members have a realistic chance. Retire games that have stopped working and replace them, rather than adding more on top.
- Tie each game to one measurable behaviour
- Compare players with non-players
- Watch repeat participation, not just first plays
- Split leaderboards so more members can win
