LoyaltyBoard feature

Design any channel scheme without a developer

The LoyaltyBoard scheme engine is where you define how partners earn — slab, SKU, target, milestone and tier rules by region, partner type or product — and launch or change a scheme without writing code.

  • Slab, SKU, target and milestone rules
  • Different rules by region, partner type and product
  • Purchase data from Distribution+ flows in for scheme calculation

Scheme types

Schemes you can build

Combine rule types in one program, each with its own budget and dates.

SchemeHow it worksTypical use

SKU / focus productExtra points on chosen productsNew launches and margin mix
TargetReward for hitting a monthly or quarterly targetPredictable sell-in
MilestoneRewards at cumulative milestonesLong-term engagement

The basics

What is a scheme engine?

A scheme engine is the part of a loyalty platform where you define how members earn. Instead of a developer hard-coding each promotion, your sales or marketing team sets the rule type, the products that count, the partners who are eligible, the earning rate, the budget and the dates — and switches the scheme on.

Indian channel programs rarely run one scheme at a time. A brand might run a quarterly volume slab for distributors, a focus-SKU bonus for dealers in two states and a tier program for retailers, all at once. A scheme engine keeps these rules separate, stops them from clashing and shows how each one is performing.

On LoyaltyBoard, the scheme engine is included from the Starter plan. It supports slab, SKU, target, milestone and tier rules, and schemes can be limited by region, partner type, tier, product or segment. Because LoyaltyBoard integrates natively with Distribution+, purchase data flows in for scheme calculation without manual uploads.

How it works

How a scheme goes live

From idea to running scheme in four steps.

  1. 1Define

    Set the rules

Choose the rule type, products, eligible partners and earning rates.

  2. 2Target

    Pick who it's for

Limit it to regions, partner types, tiers or segments.

  3. 3Launch

    Announce it

Members see the scheme in the app and get alerts on WhatsApp.

  4. 4Track

    Measure results

Dashboards show participation, points issued and sales during the scheme.

Why it matters

Control without engineering tickets

Sales and marketing teams change schemes themselves.

Multi-tier rules

Slab-based earning, tier upgrades and tier-specific benefits managed automatically.

Connected to orders

LoyaltyBoard integrates natively with Distribution+, so purchase data flows in for scheme calculation.

Best practices

How to design schemes that change behaviour

Start from the behaviour you want, not the reward. A scheme meant to launch a new product needs a focus-SKU rule and a short window; a scheme meant to keep top dealers needs tiers that reward consistency over a year. Mixing both goals into one scheme usually weakens each.

Keep rules simple enough for a partner to explain to someone else. If a dealer cannot tell you how to earn the next bonus, the scheme will not change what they do. Show progress often — in the app and on WhatsApp — so partners know how close they are.

Cap every scheme's budget and review it at the end of each cycle. Compare partners in the scheme with those outside it, and stop or redesign schemes that don't move the numbers.

  • One clear goal per scheme
  • Rules a partner can repeat in one sentence
  • A budget cap and fixed dates
  • Progress updates during the scheme, not just at the end
  • A review at the end of every cycle

FAQs

Scheme engine FAQs

What is a scheme engine in loyalty software?

A scheme engine is the part of a loyalty platform where you set the rules for how members earn — such as slabs, SKU bonuses, targets and tiers — and turn schemes on and off without code.

Can we run different schemes for different regions?

Yes. Schemes can be limited to regions, partner types, tiers, products or segments, and several can run at once.

Do we need developers to change a scheme?

No. Schemes are configured in LoyaltyBoard by your sales or marketing team.

How does the scheme engine get purchase data?

LoyaltyBoard integrates natively with Distribution+, so purchase data flows in automatically. Other DMS and ERP systems connect through REST APIs on the Enterprise plan.

Is the scheme engine included in every plan?

Yes. The scheme engine is included from the Starter plan.

Can AI help design schemes?

Yes. Knoxy suggests schemes and the Enterprise plan includes the scheme optimiser for scheme ROI.

Can several schemes run at the same time?

Yes. Several schemes can run together, each with its own rules, eligible partners, budget and dates.

Can schemes reward behaviour other than purchases?

Yes. Points can be credited for QR scans, invoice uploads, visit check-ins, display tasks or any custom behaviour you define.
