Dealer loyalty programs that hit quarterly targets

A dealer loyalty program rewards the dealers who buy and sell your products for volume, focus SKUs and other behaviour you want. LoyaltyBoard runs slab, SKU and target schemes for dealers, verifies every claim and pays rewards with TDS handled.

  • Slab, SKU and target schemes
  • Claims verified by OCR and AI
  • Purchase data from Distribution+ flows in automatically

The challenge

Why dealer programs stall — and how LoyaltyBoard fixes it

What usually goes wrong with dealer loyalty, and what changes on LoyaltyBoard.

01

Schemes settled late

Quarter-end settlements take weeks. LoyaltyBoard tracks earning daily, so dealers see progress as it happens.

02

Claims hard to verify

Invoices are retyped by hand. AI-powered OCR reads and validates them.

03

Same scheme everywhere

Rules can differ by region, dealer tier and product line.

04

No view of results

Dashboards show scheme performance by dealer, region and product.

The basics

What is a dealer loyalty program?

A dealer loyalty program is a structured way for a manufacturer to reward the dealers who buy its products and sell them on to retailers, contractors and end customers. Dealers usually earn points or incentives on purchase volume, on focus products and on behaviour such as paying on time, then redeem them for rewards.

In most Indian categories the dealer decides what gets stocked, pushed and recommended in a town or territory. A dealer who carries several brands will naturally favour the one that makes doing business easier and more rewarding. A well-run program gives your brand that edge without permanently cutting price.

Most dealer programs combine a few scheme types: quarterly volume slabs, bonus points on new or high-margin ranges, targets agreed with the sales team, and tiers that give the best dealers better rewards and recognition. The schemes change through the year; the program itself should stay consistent so dealers trust it.

On LoyaltyBoard, dealer schemes run on the scheme engine, claims come from OCR-verified invoices or from orders in Distribution+, and rewards are redeemed from a 10,000+ catalogue through Reward Max.

A dealer program also gives the brand something it rarely has: a clear view of which dealers are growing, which are slipping and which products move in each territory. That view makes the next scheme sharper and helps the sales team spend time where it matters.

Best practice

How to design a dealer program that hits targets

Start from the business goal for the year — more primary volume, a better product mix, or faster collections — and pick one or two behaviours to reward. Programs that try to reward everything end up rewarding nothing in particular.

Segment dealers before you design schemes. A large dealer in a metro and a small dealer in a district town need different slabs, or one of them will either coast or give up. Tiers help here: they reward consistency over the year, not just a strong quarter.

Settle progress often. Dealers lose interest when they only find out at quarter-end whether they qualified. Showing progress as it happens, and paying rewards promptly, does more for trust than a bigger headline reward.

Finally, keep the rules stable. Dealers will put effort into a program they believe will still be there next year; frequent rule changes or paused schemes undo that trust quickly. Change schemes inside the program, not the program itself.

  • Set one or two clear goals for the year
  • Segment dealers by size, region and tier
  • Mix slab, focus-SKU and target schemes, each with a budget cap
  • Offer rewards dealers value, including bank transfers
  • Show progress continuously, not only at quarter-end
  • Review scheme results every quarter and adjust

FAQs

Dealer loyalty program FAQs

How often should dealer schemes change?

Schemes can change every quarter or season, but the program itself should stay stable. On LoyaltyBoard, your team can launch or change schemes without developers.

Which rewards do dealers value most?

It varies by dealer size and region, which is why a broad catalogue helps. Reward Max offers 10,000+ options including gift vouchers, merchandise, experiences and bank transfers, so each dealer can choose.

Can dealers see their scheme progress?

Yes. Dealers can track points, tier status and scheme progress in the member app, and receive alerts on WhatsApp on the Growth plan.

What is a dealer loyalty program?

A dealer loyalty program rewards dealers for buying and selling a brand's products — usually through points earned on volume, focus SKUs, targets and timely payments — which they redeem for rewards.

Can dealer schemes use our DMS data?

Yes. LoyaltyBoard integrates natively with Distribution+, so purchase data flows in for scheme calculation. Other systems connect through REST APIs on Enterprise.

How do you prevent fraud in a dealer program?

Digital KYC is required before redemption, OCR verification catches invoice tampering, and AI flags duplicate claims, unusual redemption speed, device fingerprints and location anomalies.

Do dealers need to download an app?

No. They can enrol and receive alerts on WhatsApp or be enrolled by your field rep. A branded app in 10+ Indian languages is there for those who want it.

Is TDS deducted on these rewards?

Business rewards above ₹20,000 per recipient per year can attract TDS under Section 194R. Reward Max calculates and deducts it automatically.
